Caravans are a good way to get your feet wet, especially if you are a little nervous, or have a larger rig and are not sure where you can & cannot take it. Jumping in with both feet is not for everyone. Obviously those of us who have gone down for years would not use a caravan. Many base their impressions on the huge French Canadian ones we see down there in the PV area, but there are English speaking outfits like Caravanas de Mexico, Adventure & Fantasy all running caravans down the mainland, plus Baja Amigos & Baja Winters on Baja as well. You can find a longer term one so its not just a quick up & down. Without them we may be seeing more RV park closures, so they are probably a good thing for all of us. At least til things recover.
