IMHO, we are seeing more Mexicans coming North to shop & vacation because of the growing Middle Class in Mexico. Yes I know there are many in Mexico still living in poverty. And the higher cost of goods in Mexico including FUEL.

Now we are touching on the real reasons. It takes money. It costs the same for a Mexican to drive through Mexico as it does anyone else. They have and will spend the money to have a new experience and do some shopping. Just like the Americans did in the past. It has nothing to do with gas or tolls or most anything monetarily. It has little to do with security because Mexican tourists are out in huge numbers. Are they just braver or more stupid than the traveler from the US? I think not.
So what are the reasons?
