My name is Brian Sizemore and my family and I started a local foundation last year. We started the LUCAS Foundation (short for Law Enforcements United Crusade Against Suicide) due to the alarming rise in suicides in the law enforcement community. More law enforcement officers die by suicide than in the line of duty and that must stop. We are also honoring the memory of our son Lucas who was a rookie police officer in Atlanta and took his own life last year. We have been able to successfully hold local events in Detroit, but with the help of acting SAC of HSI Michigan/Ohio Jared Murphey, we are hosting our first national event.

The LUCAS Foundation has been able to engage almost every federal, state and local law enforcement agency from Atlanta to Detroit and on September 23, 2025, we will start a relay run at the new Atlanta Public Safety Training Center that is to be dedicated later this month. The run will continue 24/7 until it reaches Downtown Detroit on September 30, 2025.

We have the route set, we have the help and support of law enforcement, and we are beginning the advertising and media portions now. I have been on 3 podcasts in the last week and more are scheduled. WXYZ was out at our last local event in February to help us shine a light when we launched this national event. The LUCAS Foundation is now focusing on the things we need to make the event successful. We need permissions for use of public property, swag, caterers, snacks/drinks for the runners, venues, financial support, etc.

We need 2 RVs to act as support vehicles for the relay. Please help if you can or pass along to someone if you think they can help.
