02/propane alarm keeps going off

I have a 2011 Forest River Sunseeker class C. The 02/propane alarm goes off, usually at night with no rhyme or reason. I have been told to keep propane tank no fuller than 3/4 full which we do. We still have no idea why the alarm will go. It has happened right when we park, its happen at night watching tv, etc. Anybody else ever have this problem?
  • I have a 2011 Sunseeker and have the same problem. I replaced the unit and still goes off some times with nothing running that should trip it. I now have an on off switch that we turnoff when we leave the coach. Got a call from the campground saying our alarm was going off. That time we think it was caused by a neighbor idling his truck next to our door.

  • We have a SunSeeker as well and had the same recurring alarm problem. The CO2/voltage detector went off. I found online that once your CO2 alarm goes off the 1st time, it is more prone to go off. We replaced ours with same brand and have not had any problems since. We have also had to replace the propane igniter in the fridge. Had a valve stem break off from inner rear tire. Very weird repairs (not at the same time) but we are still quite pleased with our unit.
  • I believe that both detectors were less than $80 total. They were purchased at Home Depot store.
  • The Propane Alarm will read any "gas".
I you have a pet that may have "gas" at night, it will go off.
  • Thanks for the quick replies. My unit is in fact the SAFE T Alert CO/LP
I pulled the fuse last night and will take Greg's advice and get separate units. Greg do you remember what you paid per unit and where you picked the up?
  • If yours is the Safe T Alert CO/LP combined unit, yes I had the very same issue always in the middle of the night. It has nothing to do with low voltage. I tried all of the suggestions with no success.

I finally just gave up on the manufacturer (was only a few months old) and had to just pull the fuse and purchase individual units which were a lot cheaper than replacing the all in one unit.

I wouldn't trust any safety device where even the manufacturer couldn't help.

BTW, I have never had a single false alarm again once going with individual units in the 16 months of full timing since replacement.
  • Don't know about an O2 alarm

But a CO/LP Detector will 'chirp' due to low battery voltage

When they detect they beep continuously and have to be reset
  • On my last RV, it would go off when the battery started getting low. Make sure your batteries are fully charged and able to hold a charge. The next time it goes off, measure the battery voltage and I'll bet it will be low.
