This sounds similar to a problem we had years ago while traveling to Alaska. After several days of trying different things, we were advised to make sure everything was screwed in tight in the electrical panel of breakers. Nothing appeared to be loose but we tightened each one by one. After that the EMS worked correctly again. We never really found anything that we could point at as being the problem but evidently something was not making a good connection somewhere.
