Sounds like the OP's mind was already made up when he posted...
Two years ago I was interested in buying an Alpha. The salesman told me, "I hate to shoot myself in the foot, but I won't sell you an Alpha, too many problems and poor quality". If a salesman wouldn't even sell it to me, that was good enough for me to look at something else.
Also, I have a very good friend that bought a new Alfa Gold in 2008. He still says that he likes it, but he has had to fix about 40 things on it, including slide-outs twisting, leaks, motors replaced twice on all three slide-outs, etc. He had so many claims on his extended warranty, they refused to let him renew it when the 5 years was up.
