12 Volt Water Pump Replacement

My 12 volt Shurflo water pump has crashed (won't shut off and is leaking) . It is a 2088 422 144
2.8 gym 45 psi. I cannot fine that one. Anyone know what has replaced that model ? I found one that is 3gpm, 55 psi with a different model number.

The 'Classic Series' (2088 Model) and the 'Extreme Series' (Smart Sensor 4900/5900 Models) were discontinued

The 4008 Revolution (3 gpm/55 psi) is direct replacement for 2088 Model
and the 4048 High Flow (4 gpm/55 psi) is intended as replacement for the Smart Sensor Models

ANY 2088 pumps still fr sale are NOS (New OLD Stock) that have been sitting around........more expensive than newer replacement pump and parts availability very limited. Why buy old out dated?

That Amazon link lists 2088 at $72 and the 4008 at $60

PPL has the 4008 at $53....LINK

X2. I replaced my failed OEM pump last fall with the 3.0 gpm version. It works great and was a direct replacement.

One warning: You will need slightly longer mounting screws as the mounting feet on this new model are slightly thicker.

X3. Go with the new and don't buy new old stock. No need to go to discontinued parts when there are viable replacements now. Great post Old-Biscuit.
  • 3 GPM, 55 PSI is the way to go, IMO.
that is the new pump I put in our coach. We did not like the flow and pressure of the original pump, so I tossed it and got a new one.
WOW! What a difference! The higher pressure and flow was definitely worth the price!

  • Pump pressure and GPM are not critical. The 3 GPM pump at 55 psi will do just fine if the fittings are correct.

A leak in your system causes the water pump to keep running... Before you say its bad close off the port going to the fresh water tank and see if the pump still stays running...

Your problem just might be a leak between the pump and the fresh water tank.

Even when I have NO WATER in the fresh water tank and I accidentally turn on the water pump it won't turn off... I have to add water to the tank to get it shut down...

Another problem I had was I have the winterizing switch with a short hose that goes down into the pink stuff. I left my switch setting to short hose and the pump stayed on when I turned it. Then I noticed what was wrong and switch to the fresh water tank and it shut off...
