1990 fleetwood southwind

My 1990 south wind has battery disconnect inside coach aux and main battery the main battery switch is not flipping solenoid so I guess my question is if the selanoid is bad and the main battery disconect is off will there be any power at all to dash or will it be able to turn over?

The grease in them gets hard and makes them stick. $40 at NAPA....30 amp constant usage ( not temp usage)
  • Which chassis?
My chev chassis will turn over.
Use a jumper cable around battery disconnect relay large posts to start the rig.

It doesn't make a difference which chassis you have, this is all Fleetwood wiring and function.

If the MAIN battery disconnect is in disconnect mode (on a pre-1998) their will be no power to the dash or starter functions.

Jumper around the solenoid as was suggested, or simply move all large cable connections to the same side of the solenoid, and it should prove whether the solenoid is bad or not.
  • IN my 1990 southwind on a chevy P30 chassis if the chassis solenoid does not engage then there is no power to the dash or anything else run by the chassis battery.

As I said in your other thread the solenoid is under the hood in a black box on the passenger side. If you PM me I have a schematic of the box including the chassis solenoid. In addition you might be able to tap the solenoid while someone presses the switch. This may engage the solenoid and it may work for a day or a week or longer.

Here's a diagram and troubleshooting procedure document that will help find and fix your problem.
  • I had the same issue with my 1995 Georgie Boy, no 12V on board unless ignition on or plugged in to external power. You did not mention, but are the solenoid(s) are Intellec(sp?). My issue was stuck solenoid, and after replacement, found on board switch would not engage 12V either. I brought life to the interior by jumping 12V+ to the "I" terminal of the solonoid and 12V- to the "S" terminal. To disconnect, reverse poles to terminals. One of these days I'll get around to a new switch.
