1993 Fleetwood Bounder Tank Monitor

Hello All!

I'm having trouble dialing in on the cause of my issue.

  • The tank monitor has no power
  • tested the power line behind the monitor and there is no power to the monitor
  • I've searched every panel and can find no blown fuse or inline fuse that is blown
  • I cannot trace the line any further than the harness behind the monitor as it disappears into the loom and out to the front of the coach in the engine/battery bay
  • tested the monitor with a 12v power wheels battery and it does power up.
  • The issue appears to be the line coming to the unit and I cannot find the source.

I have attached a few pictures to help:

Back Panel Wiring -
The two wires with the crimp connector are the power and ground. I used them to test the panel with the 12v battery and the monitor functioned as designed, except the propane it showed full but is 5/8. If you follow the lines back to the loom you can see that they are nearly impossible to trace.

Front Panel -
Well, that one is just so you can see what my panel looks like

Schematic -
This is a picture of the back of the battery fuse panel that is located under the "hood". None of the fuses are blown and everything appears to be hooked up as it should be (no hanging wires or disconnected inline fuses that I can see).

I'm stumped at this point and need a little help from the RV aficionados! I guess I could simply run a new line but that doesn't really solve my initial problem in that there is an inherent flaw in the circuitry. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Good idea BobR, I need to acquire a labeling machine and make some labels for the wires that connect in the BCC so they are more clearly labelled. I think there are a few things behind the fridge that could use a few labels as well!
  • Make sure you mark the circuit board in case you forget or for the next owner.
  • Congratulations. It only took an hour after the posting and you had it solved. Sometimes you just have to sit and take another look. Nice that you posted the solution also. Enjoy it now.
  • OK, Folks,

I answered my own question. After 2 weeks of trying to figure this thing out I finally have my answer. It's probably quite obvious to most but the adage does say "If it was a snake . . . . "! Check out this picture "missing fuse" and notice in the upper right hand corner there is a white wire attached and no fuse in the slot. I put a fuse in and "mystery solved"!

I was looking through all of the other fuses trying to find the culprit when it never existed in the first place. In my defense this is a new to me RV . . . . . can we call it a rookie mistake?!?!?

    On to the next project!
