Ok so here is some news!
Wasnt brake calipers, I checked that. No heat, no wear smell. Great tip though!
After changing fuel filter, went for a test drive. No effect, still got 80-90 MAX in passing gear, 4500rpm throttle wide open.
So I added $50 of fresh gas, and a can of injector cleaner.
I let it idle for about 20 minutes then took it out on the open highway again. About 2 minutes into the ride it suddenly downshifted and started playing nice. A further drive for about 40 minutes proved it would accelerate in overdrive up a 50 degree climb.
SEEMS PROBLEM SOLVED.
Old gas, crappy gas, plus crappy stabilizer is a recipe for disaster.
Sta-Bil it is from now on!!!
I have a feeling the engine code is unrelated to this issue, as it appeared almost immediately after changing tires (old tires were worn, mechanic ordered wrong ones, 225 70 r19.5 instead of 245 70 r19.5), so ignore engine code for now. Going to dealer to have tire size reprogrammed.
