May have an alternator problem, were is it located is near the engine? If it is bad and has to be replaced, how much do they run. Has anyone changed the alternator themselves or it has to go to a shop...

A bad battery isolator will give the same symptoms as could a loose/bad wire connection, OR yes it could be the alternator.
All I am suggesting is that you troubleshoot the issue rather than just throwing parts at it.
