2000 Dutch Star Review

Looking at possibly purchasing a 2000 Dutch Star. Looking for any reviews on this brand (good or bad) and overall what you think about it. I have included a link with a picture and a brief description. I have emailed for more info.

Thanks.

  • We just bought a 2004 and are on a 4000+ mile trip. We just love our Dutch Star. The craftsmanship is excellent. We have found no issues with ours except self induced and nothing with the coach. If it hasn't been abused and the price is right put it on the serious considering list. With anything look at it very carefully. Good Luck!
  • There are a few issues with that age DS.
If Cummins it has lift pump and CAPS pump problems, those are the 2 fuel pumps. The upper ball joints on the Spartan chassis have problems with the rubber covering comming off, this requires replacement, also cooling fan runs 100% and has a retro for a 2 speed fan, this will help fuel usage a and not blow debries.
But overall this is a very good MH.

  • I would second the comment on the Dutch Star. Our 04 has over 70,000 miles and we still love it. Newmar makes some very nice MH's and the people at Newmar are the best. My neighbor has an 03 that's in great shape and he's getting out of the MH business.
  • Your link doesn't work.... We absolutely love our 2004 Dutch Star. We've full-timed in it for 9 years and it has 60,000 miles. Have been to Alaska among many other travels. It has held up very well - looks like new in and out. When we were looking for a motorhome we asked folks who had them and Newmar was at the top of the 'quality' and 'no problem' list. It's a stable company who hasn't gone bankrupt or sold out to others. I think you'd be very happy with it.
  • link has been deleted. I have worked on a lot of Dutch Stars and have been impressed with the quality
  • Lots of Newmar Info Here. We purchased a 2000 MADP in April. We have 3 Florida trips and one north Georgia trip under our belt without problems. Total of about 1250 miles so far. We found all the Newmar's we looked at were cleaner, paints, carpets, etc. (i guess owners took better care) and better built than other used brands we looked at. (And I can tell you, General RV doesn't detail any of their used units on their lot. Sad.)
