2000 Monoco water inlet valve broken

The valve that sends water to the system or to fill the tank is malfunctioning. City water is going to system and the tank all the time, tank eventually overflows. Does anyone know where to get a replacement ball valve for this application. Have been told Monoco takes a long time for parts. Would like to fix while still on the road for another 2 weeks. Have no idea what it looks like since it is located behind a bulkhead in the equipment cabinet. All I can see is a arm with 2 90 degree stops for movement to city and fill. Hoping someone has had this problem and can point me in the right direction.

  • Problem solved. The valve was just a simple shut off. When hooked up to city water the system is always charged. The valve allows water to flow to the tank. Put in a new valve from Home Depot and all's well.

That said, it was like a jig saw puzzle getting at the plumbing. About 1.5 hours of R&R, along with necessary modifications for different valve.

Sounds like mine, which is a standard brass ball valve. Can't say how it's attached, but once removed, a new one can surely be adapted with parts from home depot or other.

I Just went through this for a 2004 Damon. The handle turns 1/4 turn. Check out Swan Industries. Although their current version of the Quick Fill has a wing nut look (rather than the handle we both have), they still sell the replacement 3 way ball valve with the handle. Call them. They were very helpful. Yes, it's true their replacement ball valve is about 60 bucks but it goes inside their box and it fits. They'll even walk you through how to remove and replace.

I was told by a Good Sam help line about Swan. Thank you for your input.
  • If it is anything like my Monaco it will be a plastic 3 way valve similar to the Flare it 3 way plastic valve and may even be the same thing. Ace hardware stores among others usually has these. Get 1 with the Flare it push on barb at the 3 inlets. I had to change mine and was fortunate to have enough slack in the existing lines that I was able to cut them at the old valve and with plenty of material left was able to push the lines on the valve and with Flare it stuff it is not necessary to clamp it. It goes better when pushing the lines on the valve to use a cup of hot tap water to briefly warm the line before and soften it a little before its assembly to the valve.

The lines are probably crimped to the fittings on the valve. HomeD will have a ball valve and maybe the right size barb fittings for it if they will not come out of the current valve. Using a hacksaw you can cut the metal bands at a 45 to get the hoses off of the valve.
