2001 Dynamax Star Flyte

What is the towing capacity of a 2001 Dynamax Starflyte, gas powered, motorhome?
  • Depends on chassis and engine. Dodge with 360, Chevy with 350, Ford with 5.4 it is going to be something around 3500 pounds for a flat tow. Big block Chevy or Ford 6.8 V10 probably 5000 for a flat tow.

Motorhome structure, frame extensions could limit tongue weight for a weight carrying tow, as could the choice of hitch installed. If thinking about towing a heavy trailer, take it ti a hitch and frame shop for assessment and possible upgrades.
  • Hi,

We own a 2001 Starflyte. We pull a Smart Car with ours. I can check the towing load if you still need it. Ours as a big Chevy engine, maybe an 8.1 L gas. It was discontinued. It has lots of power. Ours has the rear dinette. We like the looks of it from the outside. It is narrower than a class C by 6" I think. If you can believe it, we travel with 3 dogs, one being a golden retriever and 3 cats in 21'. One of the reasons we purchased this was there is access from the outside rear to the inside. That way we have a place for the cats to go out. It has a very tiny wet bath. We have had to replace 2 different parts, one being a camshaft sensor. The other part was a chevy recall, but not on our particular model. It was where the engine would quit and all power is lost. Other than those 2 items, it does real well. The kitchen work space is a drawback, but when the table is up in rear dinette, that helps with lack of space. It drives and handles really nice. We like the length because sometimes we don't take the car, and we can go anywhere with it. We like state parks and the size we can get in almost any space.
Hope this answers a little for you.
