2005 Ambassador reliablity

I have a 2005 Holiday Rambler Ambassador that I just bought in May 2016 with 64K miles and used locally with a few medium range trips of 300 to 600 miles. It has a 330 Cummins ISC , Alison 6 speed transmission and RR8R Roadmaster chassis. Assuming a life of good maintenance should I expect this rig to be reliable on a long trip say 2000 to 3000 miles each way? I'm only thinking of the drive train, chassis, suspension etc not the coach stuff or appliances etc. Thanks.
  • Absolutely-- IF, repeat IF maintenance is kept up to date. The mileage is low and 2005 is not that old for DP components.

Age of tires, how well they have been cared for and if the previous weighed and set pressures accordingly would be my only concern.
  • I also have a 2005 Ambassador with a hundred and five thousand Plus. It has made three trips to Alaska a trip to the west plus many trips to Fla. Expect normal things (tires, batteries, windows losing their seal ) but the main thing was a leak around the plug of the fuel tank after about ten years. About 3 or 4 tablespoons in 24 hours. This left a stain in Wally'world parking lots.
We we were able to get it welded in place with out dropping the tank. Also we are on our third set of tires. All in all it has been a good coach.
  • They are great coaches. Being a DP it should be fine. Make sure to keep your maint up and you'll have a great coach for years to come.
  • A 3000 mile trip is just ten 300 mile trips taken end to end. If your coach is reliable to take multiple 300 mile trips, there's no reason it would not be equally reliable on one longer trip. (And, as others have said, if reasonably maintained, it should be entirely up to the task.)
  • Thanks for all the replies. We'll be leaving in a couple of weeks with renewed confidence.
