2005 V10 engine block drains..where is passenger side drain?

NOTE: This is in my 2005 Class C Ford chassis motor home.

I found one on driver's side...it is just under the rear-most freeze plug. It is a hex plug (5/16").

On passenger side there is not one in same location/immediate vicinity. It is NOT under the rear-most freeze plug. There is a motor mount near the second to last rear most freeze plug, but I could not feel one behind it...nor could I get a socket to it even if it were there.

1. Is there only one engine block drain plug?
2. If there is s second one, where is it?
3. Will this one engine block drain plug drain entire block?

I want to get all coolant out so I can do a complete coolant change.

  • All V engines I've had have the block drains on both sides. I don't think it can be completely drained by just one. However the great majority can be drained by removing the one plug you can see, plus drain the radiator. I sure wouldn't be pulling off parts to get to the second drain. In fact I agree with post above, just drain/change what you get get by draining radiator. Use Ford Gold coolant concentrate(or G05) and distilled water. If you're not getting the entire amount changed, change it more frequently. If the coolant is actually rusty or dirty it may take a few drain and fills. But I doubt it is in bad shape.
  • No reason so ever remove them. Simple drain and fill is all you need for coolant service
  • I wouldn't worry about it. There's no way you will get all the coolant out anyway.
