2006 Winnebago Journey 34H

I have been looking for a small (short) DP for a few months now and we are going to look at a used 2006 Winnebago Journey 34H. I was wondering if there are any Year/Brand/Model specific problems or recalls I should look for?

This coach has the optional CAT 350 and the 6 spd Allison. I would also like to hear from any of you who own this model and how you like it.

Thanks for your responses.

Russ
  • Overall the Journey is a great coach. Some good friends of ours have a 2003 34' Journey on the Freightliner chassis and they love it. It has the CAT C7 330hp/860 ft./lbs. of torque and does extremely well. They pull an enclosed trailer slightly smaller than ours and it does great. I cannot tell you what floorplan they have with any certainty though.

The Freightliner, Caterpillar, Allison should do you very well.

350 HP/900+ lb-ft torque in that short a coach will be quite strong.
    That much torque? Nice!

Click on the PDF's for specs on the C7.

Actually its 860lbs trq. The 3126e which I have is rated at 330hp. 860 torque and the C7 is rated at 860 lbs torque and 350 hp..

Same engine, with improvements for emmisions. A few other changes such as a sealed fan pully bearing that does not require lubing. No Zirk fitting. Lowering the breather from the top of the engine to a lower position for a lower profile. etc.

Check your fan hub pully carefully. If its loose or wobbly replace it. Some have converted back to the one that you can manually lube because failures.

Make sure that your slobber tube is extended beyond your cac and radiator to prevent blowby from clogging the radiator.

A great engine, just a few thing to watch for.
