A 2006 is out of warranty, but you probably have a service contract on it. Not the same thing. The term "Extended Warranty" is meaningless unless it is the manufacturer who issues it. Service contracts DO have a long list of not covered repairs, so it is feasible that it may not be covered. Prior approval, even of covered repairs, is required whether it was warrantied by the maker, or covered by a service contract.
