2007 Aspect 26A Slideout Problem

Motorhome: 2007 Aspect 26A

Appearance: The top of the slide out nearest to the rear of the motorhome is about 1 inch lower than the side near the front of the motorhome. It has been this way for a long time. It may have been that way when we purchased it (it was used).

Problem: When trying to retract the slide out we heard an unusual noise and noticed that the slide out was not straight. One side was out further than the other. Ran the slide out all the way out. I went out to push on the side that was not correct while the wife retracted the slideout. Now the front side is flush with the motorhome wall and the rear side is aboiut 3/4 inch from the side of the motorhome.

Goal: Level the slide out vertically and realign so both sides are flush with the wall when retracted.

Any inputs would be appreciated:
I could not find any adjustments to alter the vertical level of the slide. I think I have figured out how to realign it. Can't find a manual that provides detailed mechanical info on this slide. I think it is a Schwintek, but not sure.

I would like to understand how to adjust up/down, side to side, and in/out.
Thanks
  • I just found this. It goes in to vertical and horizontal adjustments toward the end. Not sure if this is what you have.

  • Thanks for the information.

I looked at that document and some information may be useful, but they state that the Schwintek has a motor on each slide. Ours only has one motor.

I will do some more checking tomorrow.
  • Very important to keep the slide rails free of built up gunk. Just spraying oil or lubricant on them doesn't always do the trick. When the slide is out it may pick up dirt and dust and then added to the lubricant it turns into glue. I thought the motor on mine failed but it was just gunk. Check the brackets on the outside of the rails, one of the welds on mine broke and the slide moved out on one side while traveling , of course it was one of the few times that my slide lock was not in place.
  • Thanks for the input klutchdust, This Spring I cleaned all the rails and slide mechanism as best I could. THen lubed with that dry lube stuff that doesn't attract dirt. It was pretty dirty after our trip to Alaska.

I will look for any weld problems. Our unit was used and we do not have a slide restraint. Will order one of those.
  • The main problem with my slide-out was a broken weld on the rear rail. It let that side of the slide drop about 1 inch and appear misalign...well it was misaligned but not something an adjustment could fix.

Schedule to go to an RV repair shop on Thursday. Hope the repair is not too expensive.

The rest of the alignment issues seem to be pretty straight forward. I didn't try to do any additional work on the slide once I found the broken weld.
