2007 Tiffin Allegro

My hubby and I looked at a 2007 Tiffin Allegro 35TS the other day. We now own a 2003 Winnebago Sightseer, but we have been wanting to see a Tiffin. LOVED the coach! 12,000 miles only, owned by an older couple who ended up surrendering it as they have health issues. 3 slides.
Well, my husband heard something in the motor (pretty sure the motor), then found out that Tiffin stopped using a Chevy motor in this coach around 2012 we were told. That kind of raised a red flag. My question is, does anyone own one of these coaches and have you had trouble with this motor in this coach? Thank you in advance.
  • As far as I know, Ford is the only one making a gasoline engine/chassis for motorhomes.
Workhorse stopped building a chassis because GM stopped making the 8.1 engine. Which is why Tiffin stopped using the Chevy engine, not because there was a problem with the engine.
If the Tiffin has a Chevy/GM engine and that is your concern, don't worry about it. As long as the engine and drive train is in good condition you will be okay. It's a solid and reliable engine.
  • gbopp is correct on the chassis information.

You do want to look at the structure though. Open each and every baggage door and see if they'll close separately or if you need to "time" them to close together.

Tiffen had an issue with wet bays and leakage, and it caused some structural issues. My parents Allegro suffered this problem, along with a host of others. Most of the other stuff I was able to fix and or work around, we never could get the doors adjusted enough to work individually.
