Yes and no. Initially, it did not help. But after a year or so the longer 223" wheelbases started becoming common, which puts more weight up front. But then with the longer wheelbase, coach makers bumper the largest coaches from 31' to nearly 33'!
I think it's a never ending game the RV makers play. Customers complain about over loaded rigs, so Ford ups the GVWR, so then the RV makers build a bigger coach.... At one time I think the E-series topped out at 9,900 pounds. Same thing happens with Class A coaches. Newmar builds them up 39'11" long on the F53/V10 chassis. Even in the 90's a 40' coach would require a diesel-pusher chassis, and probably a tag-axle at that.
