2008 Itasca catalytic converter & pipe stolen

Went to the storage area, as do monthly, and when I started the motorhome it was LOUD! Looked underneath and all the pipe and catalytic converter had been sawn and removed. Really pisses me off! Spend all that money to put your rv in a supposed safe environment and POW.

Nuff said. Now I need to find a shop to replace the cat and pipe. Does anyone have a recommendation around the Roseville/Sacramento area? Thanks much for any help!

    For $10, you can stamp your VIN on the cat yourself. Sucks you've experienced this. Good luck...Dennis

    This is probably due to the OP living in California. While other states have Emission criteria controls, California has the strictest and makes this type theft lucrative. I will bet it is going to be installed on a Motorhome that has failed the smog test. Doug

    How would the 3rd party vendors supplying the part know what VIN to stamp on the parts?

    I wonder if consumers would be willing to pay the extra money to implement that kind of change?

    CAT buyers are thick on FB Market place in my area.
    Too bad they don't put VIN numbers on Cat Converters!
    New vehicle dealers get hit a lot too.

    The cat will end up at a recycler and the money paid for it will likely end up in a drug dealer's pocket. High clearance vehicles are a favorite target for cat thieves with a cordless sawzall...

    Call the police and make a report. They can do a DMV registration search for 2008 Itasca’s in your area and maybe get lucky. Or perhaps there’s one in your storage lot?

    That sucks. I’d call insurance. I had to replace the chrome tip on my DP and it was $200.
