- rgatijnet1Explorer IIII believe it was built in the old Safari plant in Harrisburg, OR.
- wolfe10ExplorerActually, that age Safari is pretty much a Monaco product, as they purchased Safari years before that one was built.
Not suggesting it is good or bad, just very similar to the compatible Monaco, Holiday Rambler offering. - rgatijnet1Explorer IIIThat is a great coach built by Safari, which was known for building a high quality coach. You should be very happy with it after you go through the usual maintenance items suggested by MM above.
I have seen several really low mileage RV's for sale. Some people just do not do their homework and find out after they have purchased an RV, that it is not for them.
I remember one unit where the couple custom ordered a nice RV, picked it up at the factory and headed back to Florida. By the time they got home they were afraid of driving such a large vehicle and it immediately went up for sale, at a huge discount. People don't always make the best decisions when it comes to vehicles. - stevsanExplorerAccording to the dealer the people bought this unit new and hardly used it.they traded it back for a pickup and fifth wheel. Thanks to everyone who replied, it is a big help.

I'm looking to buy a 2008 safari simba on a freightliner chassis, unit has a front mount cummins engine. Can anyone tell me anything about it. It has 4500 miles on it.
I would have it inspected by a diesel mechanic. A 2008 with 4500 miles was stationary most of its life. I would want to know why. - wolfe10Explorer
- Mr_Mark1ExplorerMr. Stevsan, it's amazing that it has only 4,500 miles! WOW!
Most likely it will need new tires and possible batteries. I also would think it would need to be 'zero'd' out with new belts, filters, engine service, tranny service, etc.
If everything checks out, you may have just found a diamond in the rough. Wondering though, why it was not used?
The generator may need servicing too. If it has airbags on the chassis, check those too as they may be dried out.
Our 2008 Monaco Dynasty needed 4 anti-freeze boxes over 70,000 miles. The final one was a good one. Apparently, there were many defective boxes. Ours would leak at the top fittings. The second box was replaced under warranty, we bought boxes 3 and 4.
Good luck and let us know what you find out.
MM.
