2009 Monaco Dynasty Regal IV with 500hp Cummins

This is Michbill.
We are considering a used 2009 Dynasty Regal IV with 500hp Cummins that has 76,000 miles on it. I have a couple question since we have only owned gas coaches:
1. Does anyone have this coach and their feelings about it?
2. Any idea what I can expect for fuel mileage?
3. Any service issues? 2009 was about the time that Monaco was having big issues and went into bankruptcy.
4. General thoughts about, the coach, Monaco, service, extended warranty...
Thank you
Bill
  • And the reason they were probably changed in 2010 was due to the miles on the coach. Previous owner may be one of the few that actually miled out the tires rather than aged them out.
  • 4010 on the date code I believe means the 40th week of 2010.

And if I'm wrong, someone please correct me! :B
  • Anyone know how to read the tire code?
The dealer sent me a picture of the code:
    DOT FV EA CM8X 4010
  • Mr. Mark,
Thank you. Those are great ideas/questions.
The dealer said: the tires were new in 2010. I do not know why they would be replaced them after only two years. The batteries were replaced 2011. The genny, I seem to recall it had 1,500 hours. I do not know about the leveling or Aqua Hot. However, I just sent a text to the salesman re all the questions you posed, and I'll await his answers. The roof I do not know. I'm in Michigan, and the coach is in FL. I have not physically seen it yet.
Are there engine maintenance issues I should be aware of? E.G. frequency of oil, filter change... How about the genny and Aqua Hot?
    Thanks
    Bill
  • Bill, from our 2008 to the 2009 there was a paint design change but they are virtually the same. Ours was built early in 2007 before 'big event' started to happen.

I would think that you would get around 7 mpg average.

How many hours on the genny?
Have you checked the tire date codes?
    Batteries new?
Does it have both air and hydraulic leveling?
Does it have the duel stage Aqua Hot (hi and low electric elements)?

With 76,000 miles on it, I would think the engine should be healthy but you could get an engine oil analysis just to be sure. Hopefully the owner has maintenance records.

Like most people say, I would have one with a few miles on it vs. one that has sat and not used.

I would also check the roof to see how the caulking looks. I had to caulk ours at about 4 yrs. old which was not hard to do.

In the front bay under the drivers seat are the chassis fuses. The turning signal indicator module is located there. When driving down the road it vibrates coming loose. I have to keep a rubber band around it to keep it in the socket. Check the gaskets around all of the compartments, I had to add a piece of rubber to that front one as water leaked in and caused the air horns to go off. There are holes in the bottom of that plastic bay that needed to be enlarged which I did with a pair of scissors carving the holes a little larger.

I replaced one gasket around a bay door as it failed (no big deal) and just popped on a new one. As long as the little things are taken care of along the way, the list stays short.

Good luck, you will love the Dynasty.

    MM.
  • I would agree that was around the time when Monaco was having some serious issues, but seeing as it already has 76,000 miles on it I'd think that would be a good one. It sure looks to have spent more time on the road than in the shop.

With the 500HP it won't be a fuel mizer by any stretch but oh boy, it sure will put a big :B:B:B on your face.
