We did it! The Style II has taken the place of the Aqua Magic V and we're delighted.:B
We were able to seat the new toilet in the original position. No rotating/moving the pipe assembly. No moving the flange. We able to do this by doing 2 things:
First, Tom moved the incoming water pipe closer to the rear wall. We covered the original hole with a piece cut from a self-stick vinyl tile we bought at Lowe's. With the toilet installed, the patch is pretty well hidden.
Second, he shortened the horizontal line that tees off from the vacuum breaker chamber. The way it came, the hard plastic chamber stuck out quite a bit from the back of the toilet and prevented the Style II from sitting as close to the wall as it could.
I know this is neither detailed, nor technical, but I just wanted to let those of you who dislike that Aqua Magic V as much as we did, know that it is possible to replace it with something else. And it was not hard. The normal tools most of us have onboard or at home were all we used. We spent more time getting ready to do the job, than we did actually doing it. But that's why the install itself went so quickly and smoothly. We'd done as much research and prep ahead of time as we could.
This isn't meant to be a detailed explanation, but I'll be happy to tell anyone who's interested exactly what we did and I have photos, too.
Thanks for encouraging me to give this a go.
Any other great ideas???
Frances
