I just noticed I really didn't answer the question regarding freezing temps. We were in Arizona during the 5 degree temps for 2 weeks this past winter. We pulled in both slides at night and kept the heater on at about 55.
Our water pump froze the first night, so we bought a heating pad and plugged it in (plug is in that compartment) and placed it over the water pump and turned it on low and no problem after that. DH put a 100 watt bulb in the water inlet compartment and that never froze. DH took the water hose off and drained it. The water valves in the campground froze, but we were just fine (discovered that we could pour hot water over the faucet and had running water in minutes) Fresh water tank never froze at all.
What we found was that there is really no heat that is getting to those 2 compartments with the water pump and the water intake and they will freeze if not protected.
