I would think it is a good idea to add protection when it sits for long time but there have been an increasing number of articles that suggest it is not necessary as new fuels do not degrade quickly. I read one article recently that said it was better to fill the tank to restrict moisture than to leave a little fuel whichhad been treated. A non answer I know.
