2013 / 2014 Malibu Towing behind a motorhome

I wondering what changed because I just got my FMC towing guide and now it is on the list to be able to tow for the 2014 Malibu In 2012 you could also tow behind your coach. So what up with Chevrolet. I just got a new Equinox to tow behind our motorhome and the Malibu was at the top of my list but thought it was not on the list to tow in 2013. I know people got burned with the Cruse because they played this game with people. So whats up with this on and off with Chevrolet. I thought the six speed transmission was going to end all these games.

The 2014 Malibu Owner's Manual confirms what FMCA says: Recreational towing 2014 Malibu
We've towed our 2009 Malibu for >30k miles without a problem; it has the 6T45 transmission. I believe the Cruze has a 6T40. I had assumed that the towability was determined by which model transmission was being used. But now I'm not sure since one would assume that the non-towable 2013 was the same as the 2014.
According to that 2014 Malibu Manual the only exception to the dinghy towing capabilities are that a Malibu with E-Assist CANNOT be towed 4-down.
IOW, most Malibus ARE towable as dinghies.
And to Docj's comment, 4-down towing is primarily dependent on the vehicle transmission.
