Can't speak for the Excursion, but we just purchased a 2013 Expedition. Really like it. Our first DP. For the most part it has been the most trouble free RV we have purchased new.
Two things come to mind, check your tire pressures and inflate (tire mfg rec) based on the actual weight of your coach. It makes a big difference on how it drives. Second check the house battery levels immediately, mine were low from the dealer/factory.
Is the Excursion that much cheaper than the Expedition? Maybe with a little more pressure on the dealer you could make it work. When we looked they were about $20,000 difference from each other. I see there weren't any responses, but I've heard many people enjoy their Excursions.
