First, There was never an Argosy motorhome with a diesel engine.
Second, I know people that are very happy with their Airstream motorhomes with the Isuzu engines. They are reliable and average 13-14 MPG for a 28-31' motorhome.
Third, speaking in generalities really doesn't help anyone other than we now know your opinion. If there are specific issues with engines, that is more helpful (e.g., the Isuzu powered Airstream units can run hot and tend to be underpowered).
Lastly, many of us would like a Sprinter unit for the MPG. Unfortunately, they are very pricy. I think an older diesel unit and a Sprinter based vehicle are really in two separate leagues.
