25/26 Itasca Spirit 2007

Looking at an Itasca Spirit and was just wondering if anyone has one and how they like it. Also what sort of MPG do you get and how comfortable is the sofa bed

I have an 07 Winnebago Outlook 31C. The Spirit is the Itasca version of the Outlook.

We really love our Outlook, but the sofa bed is horrible to sleep on. However, I think that is pretty universal for sofa beds.

As long as we keep the speed below 65 mph, we can get 8 to 9 mpg. Going up to 70 drops the gas mileage down to about 6 mpg.
  • I have a Itasca Spirit, 30 foot, from an earlier era when it was a Winnebago entry model (equivalent to middle line for some other C manufacturers). I think by 2007 it became a middle line, as Winnebago introduced some downgrade models for the entry-price market as inflation raised prices.

I like my Itasca Spirit. Most things have been pretty well made, but I've also done some DIY improvements, e.g. stronger latches on the two closet doors with floor length mirrors (original latch was fine for the lighter doors without mirrors) and bar to keep the sliding shower door from sliding while accelerating and braking.

My sofa doesn't work well as a bed for two adults, it splits about 60-40 and there is a big crack to roll into; works fine though, one person for naps. Feels like a nice firm innerspring mattress.

Gas mileage has averaged 8.2 MPG over the past 35,000 miles. Individual fill-ups have ranged from 5.8 MPG to 12.1 MPG as mileage depends very much on driving habits and conditions. A more typical range is 7 MPG bucking headwinds at rural Interstate speeds, 9-10 MPG with good tailwinds, particularly when also slowed down to 55-60 MPH when a 10-15 MPH tailwind makes that look like 40-50 MPH to the engine.
