I upgraded from 255/80/22.5 to 275/70/22.5 and am very pleased.
You need to check some specifics before you decide to make the change.
My data is from the Michelin Truck Tire Data book, published January 2010. I have assumed that these spec's have not changed, but your tire dealer should have a current data book.
The 235/80R22.5 will have an overall diameter of 37.1 inches, turn 556 rev's per mile, and have minimum dual spacing of 10.3 inches. Approved rims are 6.75 and 7.50 inches.
The 275/70R22.5 will have an overall diameter of 38.0 inches, turn 545 rev's per mile, and have minimum dual spacing of 11.9 inches. Approved rims are 7.50 and 8.25 inches.
I think your most critical measurement will be adequate dual spacing. Measure center to center of one set of dual's and see if you have 11.9 inches or greater.
You also need to check your rim width.
The 275 will be wider. Be sure you have adequate clearance for the steer tires in a hard turn.
I hope this info helps.
