I know that lots of folks claim to never have any "problems" whatsoever with really big rigs but I really think that has a lot to do with the type of campgrounds they tend to prefer anyway. As long as you check ahead and go to campgrounds with long, wide sites and with interior roads without sharp turns then big is fine. But, in my opinion you can miss some really great out of the way campgrounds that may or may not have these features. From traveling with friends with a 36 foot 5th wheel there is no question in my mind of more problems. We would have our fuel tank filled and waiting to move on while they were still maneuvering for a spot with the big rigs. While we could pull into a Walmart gas station for a bargain, they wouldn't even think about it and on and on.
