I would think that your concerns are valid, that you'd have more problems than someone towing a shorter rig, at some gas stations, and in some campsites, but, if you plan ahead, and avoid those places that have limited room, you should be fine.
Of course, you probably won't get into some of the older campgrounds, but then again, you might have been close even without the trailer! Fueling up on the interstates, and you should be fine...small town, well, that might be tight!
There are plenty of people doing the exact same thing. I see them on I-95 all the time.
