400 ISL Transmission fluid in Coolant?

Hi,

We have a 04 Dynasty with a 400 ISL, side radiator and 6 speed transmission, just passed 48k miles. Had the unit in for service and pink fluid was discovered in coolant tank which was transmission fluid. I am now informed that we have to replace the radiator. Any thoughts?

  • You don't want AF in your trans fluid - it will eventually destroy the transmission. Get it fixed soon and have the trans flushed.
  • I was told by the mechanic that the cooler for transmission is included in the radiator. No external transmission cooler present nor visible.
  • I don't see how transmismission fluid could get into the radiator. The two should not be connected at any time. I think someone is giving you the breeze. I have a side mounted 400 ISL and just looked and cannot see a connection from Radiator to trans.
