You are heading the right direction... I also have had the exact same Hot Skin problem with one of my coaches. It wasn't at all easy. In my case, I had to remove a drawer, a cabinet side panel and also pull the breaker panel out of its mounting frame to access the main ground (wire nut) connection behind that was intermittent. I never saw a burned or browned wire. I was able to cut and strip enough to make a good ground connection and that fixed mine. I'm sure you know but.. UNPLUG when doing all of this. Best of luck.
