Op dont assume anything. I have replaced a converter that an electrician wired to 220. I also swapped the reversed hot neutral that an electrician wired wrong in the panel and insisted that the rig was wired wrong. It was doing weird stuff with the ac etc.
1. Unplug the rig from shore power.
2. The neutral and the rig frame should NOT be connected. Use an ohm meter or a powered continuity light and you should NOT see continuity between neutral and frame/chassis. The white neutral does not bond at the panel. The green or bare wires will be in one terminal strip and the white neutrals in the other terminal strip but they should not be connected. You can have multiple problems but this is one condition that must be met before moving on OR it may come into play in finding the other problems.
Yes you could have reversed wires, frayed wire etc but the neutral is isolated in an RV and you need to know this.
3. The bare/green wires WILL be connected to the frame
3. You will see continuity between the bare ground/green wire and the frame/chassis
Go between the neutral strip and the ground strip to see if they are separate.
Then bring the shore power cord inside or close enough to use jumpers to your meter and prove that the hot on the plug end is going to your breaker strip and the neutral is going to the neutral strip and that the ground is going to the bare/green strip
Also check between them with ALL the breakers off. You should NOT have continuity.
