Yes you could be getting weird stuff if it has reversed wiring and it may still function but it shouldn't hit the frame. Shouldn't is key but you dont know what kind of weird stuff may happen if it's wired wrong. But I would still want to know that a bond has not been put in it and as said above, pin the plug/cord out. (prove each wire is correct)
