I also drained the aux battery down to one LED on my battery level indicator, and then plugged it up to shore power and turned on all the DC systems, got the converter running good for over an hr and no change, no "open ground" indication or voltage in the doorframe.
I do believe that I need a new house battery though because It only supported the lights/fridge for about an hr and was nearly dead. But I don't' think that my battery has anything to do with the "open ground" situation that I have experienced.
