If I had this problem within my reach here is how I would attempt to force it to the surface.
First, disconnect the 120 VAC because we are going to concentrate solely on the GROUND wire from the 30A Male Plug to the CHASSIS.
Take a 12 VDC Power Supply that is capable of at least 2.0 Amps and a 10 Ohm (10R) 25 Watt Resistor (from Radio Shack) and put the GROUND WIRE to CHASSIS and the 10R in series with the 12 VDC power supply.
From Ohms Law:
If the applied voltage is dropped entirely across the 10R resistor then we know there is no hope of this working.
However if only part of the applied 12 VDC is across the 10R then we know we are on the right track. It is now a matter of divide and conquer, what ever the missing voltage across the 10R is, it will be found across the bad connection.
