6.8 V10 E450 mpg on Ford

I had high hopes for my newer Itasca, on an E450, as far as gas mileage is concerned. I thought even though it's a much larger coach, it has a newer V10 and the 5 speed instead of 4 speed transmission. When it was new I was normally getting 9 to 9.5 or so mpg. I hoped this might improve as I put more miles on it. In reality the opposite has happened. The best I'm getting is about 8.5 or 8.6mpg. That is with a conscious effort to stay under 60MPH on some trips, or just a few miles per hour over 60 on other trips. Oh well it is what it is. :B
