Just looked at my logs. Our longest "trip" in 2010-2011 was 16,695 miles and took 10 months. I have not counted the states and provinces. We started from Rochester NY and went south to Florida covering all the east coast states from NY south. We continued across the southern states to California and then up the west coast to Washington, crossing to Idaho then into Canada. In Canada we drove through Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon Territories on our way to Alaska.
Our return took us south through Montana to, Wyoming where we picked up US in West Yellowstone and continued east along US 20 back to Rochester NY. Our only diversion from US 20 was a northward side trip to Madison WI and then a diversion around Chicago to pick it up again east of in Indiana.
During that "trip" we flew back to Rochester from Calgary to celebrate my mother's 94th birthday and then bury her 2 days later. After two weeks we flew back to Calgary to continue the trip.
We were never in a hurry and took many side trips along the way. It was the next year that we declared ourselves "full timers."
