'89 Telstar specs.

Hi all, thanks for the great wealth of info. I have gleaned from this forum so far. I'm the proud owner of a 1989 Telstar MH, 27', mtd. to E350 cab chassis, w/460 Ford and 3 spd auto transmission. I purchased the unit from a private party back in June, and have been fixing the most needy failed systems, like 5K Onan gen, exhaust fan in bath, lighting, oil/lube, etc. I have been able to download adequate info pertaining to my Onan Gen, and my Dometic Refer, however I still could use more details on the operation of the switch on the left side of cab dash, it appears to be a disconnect or battery isolater switch? I haven't been able to find any Telstar manuals on line as of yet. On the opposite side of the firewall (under the hood) there's a serious looking solenoid hooked to the batteries. The coach and the truck battery are located under the hood. Anyone out there that has any manuals pertaining to 1989 Telstar motor home built by Champion Homes MFG ? Thanks for the help.

I found a Telstar RV Manual here:

  • You can probably get some answers to your questions, and _maybe_ some manual copies, from a group on Yahoo Auto Groups. Try the mis-named 'Classic_B_Vans'. There have apparently been and may still be several Telstar owners there, judging from the albums.

    Very cool vehicles!

  • Not for the coach but would recommend a shop manual for the chassis. You can find CD versions of them on E Bay for under $30 Do run a VIN decoder first to verify the year of the chassis the year of the motorhome and the year of the chassis is not always the same.
