I had the 200 HP 454 in 32' Bounder and it was adequate. I did not tow though.
I've been dealing with vintage vehicles quite a lot. The coach I still own is 1972 DP in perfect running condition.
I also restore 1965 Airstream trailer for resale. Sure rubber/plastic parts like to deteriorate with age, but nothing that low purchase price would not offset. Than I did not have to worry about corrosion where I live.
Now I can only wonder what kind of DP you can buy for $15k. (Don't kill me, but converted school bus comes to mind)
Frankly I doubt you will like it better than the Airstream.
If you are going to put more than 20,000 miles annually, than fuel consumption will be big factor and DP would definitely win and in such situation I always advise to take a pen, piece of paper and calculate.
