I bought a used 1994 Winnebago Brave 27RC this past May and paid retail from a dealer. I opened the LP tank valve to start the flow of LP gas this past week and a leak developed around the valve. I was told the tank could not be repaired and would need to be replaced. 1st Shocker!! Just the tank was told to me to be around $600.00 and three hours of labor to install..2nd Shocker… Camping world was told by Winnebago that they don’t manufacture the tanks anymore and the new design costs $1,100.00 for just the part and there needs to be adaptation changes to the coach to the tune of $750.00 for installation. Has anyone found any other solutions for this type of project or some grounds to approach Winnebago on because of their design changes??

did you take it to a real propane business. One that installs tanks at home type. If not check with them. This should have caught when propane was filled. A good company would not have fill it.A new frame mount only list $458 here local.guy call me back that price is for a 40 gal. A lot bigger than you probable could fit in the hole.yes they make tanks for frame mount in all sizes. Again check with your propane dealer first.

I am a long-distance truck driver. I was out on the road for weeks. The valve was opened after sitting for weeks and the leak simply occurred. It didn't have anything to do with it being filled...

Are you saying there are generic tanks that can be mounted where the one now sits???

I had a valve leaking, shop emptied tank, took apart valve repaired cost $125. you need a propane shop not CW.

As I stated I have found a licensed technician who can replace the valve for me... Thanks for all the feedback...

Here are a few places to get started.(NO affiliation) Give each one a call and explain your problem. Perhaps one of them will direct you to an appropriate service person.
If you can find a local company that services bobtail delivery trucks, they can probably help you out as well.
Suburban, Heritage & Amerigas are usually just distributors. Although they may sell a few appliances, they are not normally in the RV service side of the industry.

suburban does notrepair RV tanks... I was referred by the park manager a company called S&A RV repair and they do everything!!

You may find that a person who works as a LP repair tech will work to help you out as an individual rather than through their employer, since a lot of the LP companies don't seem to want this type of repair business.

I say that after over 36 years in the LP business and seeing the trends develop that causes companies shy away from the core business of simply supplying gas.

I had one that leaked if it wasn't all the way open or closed.
I found a jam nut on the valve shaft that I could tighten to make it seal.
Look for a nut under the handle that is around the stem.

Mostly true. The vapor valve is the same on a MH tank as a 1000gal tank and hasn't changed in forever. Any propane supplier should be able to drain the tank and replace the valve.
