Go to a bulk propane outfit.
Have them replace the shutoff valve
Propane tanks (permanent mount) only have to be replaced when tank has been damaged (gouged, ripped, torn, cracked, smashed or been in a fire).
ALL components on tank (fill valve, relief valve, service valve, fixed level gauge, float gauge etc.) are screwed into tank and can be replaced.
CW and other RV shops may be OK for parts........but for service. Use a real pro.
The correct answer is the quoted above one, but to get you going again try the below.
On many older tanks you need to firmly open the valve the whole way out for them not to leak. If all you did was open it 3/4 or gently fully opened it this may be the source of the problem.
