94 Southwind House Batteries. Begging for help :(

There should be a large cable connected to one of the large posts that comes from the battery.
Was there a diagram on the lid of the battery control center?
No, the contacts can be damaged. The clicking could be the pendulum moving and not the contacts making.
This will also show the batteries are connected correctly, that is getting 12 volt output.
