I feel better now that others have chimed in. Yes, I have the military campground website. I’ve been or going to a few of them already and put “several” in my favorites list. As far as going coast to coast, we probably will but not all in a short about of time. I want to see all the wonders of the west before heading to other parts of the country.
We’ve talked about going back to Missouri during the late spring and summer, but if we don’t, her brother lives across the street from our lake house. I know he’ll take care of any issues that might arise.
As far as the 50k goes, we don’t owe anything on the homes, and I’m planning on selling our main home to outright pay from the DP. So it will be free and clear also. Yes, I’m looking at something new or no more than 3 years old when I purchase it. The extended warranty may be the way to go since I’m not very mechanically inclined!
I know fuel for a DP is more expensive but over time wouldn’t it cost less? Here is a formula I came up with showing the difference in diesel vs gas.
Gas Tank Cost Fill up MPG Distance per tank
80 gals $2.93 $234.40 6 480 miles
Diesel Tank Cost Fill up MPG Distance per tank
80 gals $3.54 $283.20 9 720 miles
720 – 480 = 240 miles further for a diesel. 240 miles / 6 mpg = 40 gals more gas to go same distance. 40 gals X $2.93 = $117.20. $117.20 + $234.40 = $351.60 in gas to go the 720 miles or $68.40 more than what was put in the diesel’s tank.
Is this correct?
