A.C.E. Motorhomes

We are starting our search for a new motorhome. Currently have a C but would like more storage with more size so we were pleasantly surprised by the A.C.E. models we saw at the Hershey show. Haven't seen/heard any comments from actual owners. Any thoughts on these motorhomes?

Thanks!
  • We have a 2012 ACE 29.2. Owned since June 2014. Love our coach.
  • You're starting off right. You should do a lot of research on any MH you are interested in purchasing. I would suggest doing a search on this forum for ACE Thor.
Then a Google search for independent reviews of Thor products.
  • for about the same price you can get a Winnebago, Tiffin, Newmar, or Forest River product. The ACE is a Thor product, and Thor stuff is known industry wide for having issues with slideout and leveling jack problems. We get them in daily.

BTW, Winnebago actually mounts their front chairs to steel and has the whole front "A to B" pillar section made of steel. All others use fiberglass and wood in this area. Winnebago also uses a 1 piece fiberglass roof.

Actually I hope you find the product you like and have the best luck with it (regardless of brand name). If its ACE, then go buy an ACE. I just hope you enjoy whatever you buy.
  • Honestly, I don't know anything about the ACE. But, one thing I would require in any coach that I buy is that it has a fiberglass roof. If it meant going to a used coach a year or two old, I would do that.

    MM.

While I can appreciate the want for a fiberglass roof, many if not all of the entry level MH's have TPO. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me personally as TPO roofs serve and have served countless RV's for a very long period of time without issue. When you are looking at an entry level MH in the 70k range you need to understand it's exactly that - entry level. That said I have had 2 ACES now and loved them both. Neither has had any major issues to speak. We love our 29.2 and frankly I think it has a lot of bang for your buck. Thor customer service is stellar. You want higher end features, you will need to spend more money. If you like the ACE and it's in your price range I can tell you it's a solid entry level MH.
  • Spent 12 years with rubber (actually Dicor) roofs. Never had any issues other than performing the routine resealing maintenance every 6 months. Spent 30 minutes on the roof with a tube of Dicor caulk and cleaner and checked all the seals applying caulk anyplace I spotted a void.

With my fiberglass roof, I get up there and do the inspection just out of habit :) It also gives me a chance to look for any damage from falling objects or low trees that have reached out to embrace us.
