We recently had a bear vs hunter encounter, the gun went off and the hunter died. The beggars are shooting back so be careful.
I tried carrying a defender type shot gun on fishing trips, found it was too much trouble with snagging in the brush and having to constantly pick it up when I moved down stream. I figured out by the time I had it off my shoulder and chambered a round it would be a little late.Bear spray is just as effective and more convenient but the biggest defensive weapon is awareness of the surroundings.
